WRECKERS YARD: Sprayer hits wet spot

Although dessicating wheat might help to dry out the crop it can’t combat the wet sticky holes that are developing in fields across the country as the rain continues to come down.
On the 4th August Farmers Weekly’s West Midlands Barometer farmer Andrew Blenkiron went out to spray off Soissons milling wheat with glyphoaste at 2-litres/ha. Unfortunately the 24m Cleanacres sprayer dropped into a wet hole tipping over on a precarious angle.
A JCB telehandler was required to gently lift the axle as the New Holland TL90 crept forward.
It’s not been a good year so far at Chillington Farm near Wolverhampton. Andrew has already lost a back window to a stone while spreading compost and earlier this week the plough dropped off the back of the tractor as a result of a pin working loose while turning in rape stubble.
Thanks to Andrew for sending these shots in.
