225 jobs to go at Case
By FWi staff
JOBS are to go at the Doncaster, South Yorkshire plants of tractor and machinery maker Case.
The workforce, currently 1200 people at two sites in Doncaster, will be cut by 225. Timing is still to be finalised, and details will be discussed with workers representatives.
Case blames the predicted downturn in demand in its export markets for the job cuts. The company expects the market to decline by 15% in North America in the next year, and by 5% in Europe.
The companys Doncaster factories – site of its UK headquarters – assemble tractors and make gears and shafts. The company also has a sprayer plant in the UK, at Lincoln.
