300-strong Brazilian family wins land battle

A BRAZILIAN family of 300, descended from slaves, has won a 30-year legal battle to establish title to a 283.2ha (700ha) parcel of land.

The Campinho family is the third community of its kind in Brazil to win land title.

The government believes that 656 communities are working for recognition.

The Campinho family hope to attract loans to develop farming.
