SUPPORTING the ninth "Top 10%" sale of high genetic merit Holstein Friesian cattle at Exeter paid dividends for Genus.
Stock from the Genus Moet nucleus herd at Newcastle upon Tyne achieved the sales top price of 4700gns.
This was paid for the 10-month-old heifer Moet Matt Molli B. This Wa-Del RC Matt daughter out of an 11,200kg Crescent-mead dam by Valiant Rockie, heads for Peter Bosworths Draycote herd.
Dennis Smiths Oakroyal Jabot Christmas 4th, an in-calf heifer from his locally-based herd, made 4000gns. The result of a contract mating and bred from a 10,000kg Penn-Springs Mr C dam, she was bought by Davey Bros, Clovelly, North Devon.
Bull bidding was led by the 3100gns call from David and Mary Watts to add Richard Gubbs Kimland Conquest to their Maundrils herd in Somerset. He is by Ameldin 11 Pontiac Hunter and out of Etazon Concordia, the 16,200kg cow that was former UK record holder for weight of fat and protein.
