6500gns top at Daventry sale

TRADE topped at 6500gns and averaged £2685 for 28 cows and heifers when G Smith held the bi-annual production sale from his Grange Limousin herd at Daventry, Northants.

Top call came from R W Davies, Towcester, for Grange Hedera, a 1992-bred cow by the Ami son Uplands Dai.

She was sold with a 12-week-old bull calf at foot by the herds senior stock sire Garbarit – a highly respected import by As-De-Pic, one of Frances leading sires. Also suckling a Garbarit bull calf was the second calver Grange Indienne. This Sebastien sired cow made 5000gns to I Davidson, Co Antrim.

Another Sebsatien cow with a Gabarit bull calf went to &#42 and M C Copley, Grantham, at 4700gns.

AVERAGES: 18 cows and calves £2779; 10 heifers and calves £2514; 11 served heifers £1441; 13 maiden heifers £1555 and six young bulls £2625. (Harrison and Hetherington)n
