800gns high at Holstein club

A FRESH second calver from E Clark and Sons herd at Braithwaite, near Keswick, earned them the highest price at 800gns, at the Border and Lakeland Holstein Clubs sale at Carlisle.

Brigham Lizzie 5th, a daughter of Genus Brandon, gave 6700kg as a heifer and was bought by D Smith and Sons for their Lawersbridge herd at Mauchline, Ayrshire.

A bull from Richard Butterfields herd at Bentham, Lancaster, made 650gns when Messrs Carlile, Laithes, Penrith, secured Ingleview Stormy King. By Maughlin Storm, this May 1998-bred bull had a PIN +£74 and ITEM +£80.

WB Beattie, Dalston, Carlisle paid 600gns for Dumfriesshire breeder Willie Armours bull Annandale Teeton Mill, by a home-bred sire and out of a Brownfold-bred dam.
