ADDITIVE TO BOOST THE CROP

A TANK additive which increases the uptake of foliar nutrients and also acts as a slow-release source of nitrogen has been launched in the UK by Nu-Trel Products.

Opticron contains amine modified polymethylene urea, which produces a sticker/spreader effect when applied with liquid NPK formulations, organic growth promotants such as seaweeds, and inorganic trace elements; in trials on winter wheat, for example, 1 litre/ha (0.71 pint/acre) more than doubled the uptake manganese.

The product is also a high-analysis nitrogen source, containing 34% N by volume – almost twice that of standard urea solutions. It has very low scorch potential, does not suffer from leaching and breaks down slowly over eight to 12 weeks.

Opticron is compatible with most agrochemicals and can be applied at any growth stage to a wide variety of crops. Recommended application rate is from 1 litre/ha (0.71 pint/acre) to 2 litres/ha (1.42 pint/acre).n
