Agrovista rakes in big profits

AGROVISTA UK, the agronomy specialist and crop protection product distributor has reported a £1.5m profit on its activities in 2004.

This figure represents a three-fold increase on 2003, and came on turnover of more than £70.7m, up 10% on the previous year.

The company outperformed the market, which grew some 7%, according to managing director James Robertson.

“Our aim has been to better the market position by focusing on what is important to our customers and our staff.

“With a 10% increase in sales and a significant increase in trading profit reflecting tight cost control, I am confident that we have more than met our objectives.”

Agrovista has invested heavily in its fleet of distribution vehicles and in its staff, which it claims will help it to weather the storm of the new market-oriented CAP.

“Our business is extremely well placed in the market place,” said Mr Robertson.

“With the advent of the SFP and pressure on market size it is only those companies that are strong financially and have a visionary strategy and policies that will survive for the future.”

He also noted that growth had been seen in the company‘s four divisions: agriculture, amenities, horticulture and professional services.
