Airfield to grow organic cabbages

A 226ha (560 acre) former airfield owned by the Ministry of Defence is set to be partially converted into an organic farm.

The airfield near Cricklade, Wiltshire, is poised to be bought by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and English Nature.

The conversion to organic use would be straightforward because the Ministry of Defence restricted the use of fertiliser on the site.
