Anti-GM protestors wreck field with an X

ENVIRONMENTAL protesters destroyed a field of oilseed rape on a Scottish farm over the weekend to highlight their concerns over genetically modified (GM) crops.

About eight of them descended on the field at 3am on Sunday at the Walton Experimental Farm, on the outskirts of Aberdeen. The farm carries out trials on crops for industrial companies and the government.

They tried to mark a huge X on the field by trampling the shape of the letter through the crop.

Now the protestors are threatening to carry out similar actions on some of the 43 other sites where GM crops are growing in Scotland.
