From plain VX to Amazon VX, the 1997 version of the titanic Toyota Landcruiser gets a Jungle Jim name change along with minor spec and trim upgrades. These include passenger airbag, colour-keyed bumpers, side stripe and roof rails. There is also a new model, the diesel-only Amazon GX, which at £36,020 is priced mid-way between the Amazon VX TD (£43,165) and the top-spec but smaller Landcruiser Colorado VX TD (£32,635). Both Amazon GX and VX turbodiesels drive through five-speed manual boxes while the only petrol option, the 4.5-litre Amazon VX, comes with a four-speed auto – no mix n match on offer. Full report to follow.
