This four-shear Swaledale ram so impressed the judges with his conformation and markings that even without his horns he stood senior champion at the Swaledale Sheep Breeders Associations B District show and sale at Hawes, North Yorks. He was shown by John Tennant, Steeple Farm, Bordley, Skipton, who runs a flock of 600 Swaledale ewes. Buyers at £1350 were L Simpson and Sons, Pateley Bridge. Top price was £2400 given by F and A G Horne, Skipton, for an aged ram from R and E Cooperthwaite. Aged rams and ram lambs averaged £523 and £166 respectively.
