&#8226 GREENSLADE Taylor Hunt are selling two blocks of land in Somerset, a test for the strength of the local farmland market.

Just over 42 acres of pasture and arable land are for sale at Limington, near Yeovil, guided at £90,000 for the whole. The land has a mains water supply and the soil type ranges from a medium to heavy loam.

And nearly 11 acres at Sparkford, near Yeovil, are valued at £2311/acre. The land which is grade 3 is ineligible for arable area aid payments. Strutt & Parker are joint selling agents.

&#8226 AFTER two deals failed to complete in just over a year Park Farm, Wilts, now is sold.

The 117-acre pasture and arable farm at Southwick, near Frome was guided at offers in the region of £680,000 but sold for in excess of this to two parties. The vendors are expanding their business and relocating to Cornwall.

Included in the sale was a farmhouse, two bungalows – one was subject to an agricultural occupancy condition – and more than 12,000sq ft of farm buildings. Agent Woolley & Wallis handled the sale.

&#8226 A GROUSE moor in the Cumbrian Pennines with a five-year average of 545 brace is guided at offers offers in the region of £1.75m for the whole.

Rotherhope Estate includes 2351 acres of moorland but an in-bye stock farm, while 158 acres of grassland is included in the sale by joint agents CKD Kennedy Macpherson and FPDSavills.

Accommodation includes a four-bedroom shooting lodge and two other houses. There is also fishing on the River Tyne.
