Old timer… This cow joined the herd in the same year that Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister. Now in her 21st lactation, shes among the 100-plus Holstein Friesians on offer at a dispersal run by South East Marts at Rickfield Farm, Horsham, next Thursday (Sept 21). The animal, thought to be the oldest NMR-recorded cow in the UK, has given nearly 1095t of milk – £17,500 worth – at the West Sussex farm. "Shes as fit as a fiddle," says farmer Brian Cranfield.
