AROUND THE SALES
• Farmers Fresh has released a new lamb classification price grid for its customers. According to Mike Gooding the new grid is better for producers because it sets the base price for payments at R3H, compared with most other grids that base payments from the R3L mark. He says premiums for E2, E3L and U2 and U3L grade lambs have risen by 5p/kg to 25p/kg and 20p/kg, respectively.
• Pig prices have benefited from the BSE crisis on the Continent, but the markets recent fizzle seems to have died, says MLCs Tony Fowler. Last weeks UK spec average deadweight price was up just 0.7p on the week at 102.6p/kg. He expects a slight rise this week, but no more rapid increases. *
