Sealed out… Cogent has gone to extraordinary lengths to keep the foot-and-mouth virus out of its Cheshire-based bull stud. Three days were spent covering ventilation gaps with plastic sheeting and air is being pumped into buildings through a MAFF-approved virus filter. Confined to the stud are 140 young and proven bulls, along with three personnel to care for them. Semen collection has stopped until the crisis is over.
