Scrapie blood test delays irk producers

Eradicating scrapie from the national flock makes common sense. But when producers are asked to co-operate with DEFRAs national scrapie plan by having pedigree stock tested, the least they should expect is an efficient return of results.

But delays in returning blood test results have added to producers anxiety. Although new testing procedures often have teething troubles, lets hope government can resolve them quickly.

If not DEFRAs inefficiency could threaten to undermine attempts to rid our national flock of this terrible disease.
