NEW-SEASON LAMBS: The entry of springers at Exeter, Devon topped the 600-mark. All weights were in demand and a much larger entry would have readily sold, says Exeter Market Auctioneers. Average was up 22p on the week to 136.17p/kg (£52.85 a head).

CULL EWES: Best heavy Suffolks and Continentals were in the £38-£45 range at Banbury, Oxon last Thursday. Heavy Mules were changing hands between £30 and £34, with leaner ones £23-£26. Small Welsh and Blackface ewes were £11-£20. Overall, lightweights and heavyweights averaged £16.53 and £32.34 respectively, reports Midland Marts.
