Artist pays homage to Welsh Black under threat of disease
A WELSH Black bull calf will be among the works on view at West Wales School of the Arts, Carmarthen, in a week long show opening on June 18. It is the work of student Pippa Bone of Bryn Ceirch, Blaeny Coed and is made from metal, chicken wire, bitumen and hay.
"I live on a farm with sheep and a registered Welsh Black herd and the animals are a great inspiration to me in my work. My horror at the threat of losing our animals to foot-and-mouth made me want to make this calf," she explains. Pippa is in her final year of an HND course and hopes to work towards a BA next.
