Attempt to cut dip pollution

THE Environment Agency has forged links with industry bodies at Sheep 98 to encourage producers to take more care when dipping sheep.

The Country Landowners Ass-ociation, Farmers Union of Wales, National Sheep Association and the NFU backed the EAs call for producers to appreciate how toxic sheep dips are and how damaging synthetic pyrethroids can be to aquatic life.

Rhian-Nowell Phillips of the FUW said: "The government is considering new legislation. Farm-ers who dont follow EA guidance on sheep dipping and cause pollution will be letting colleagues and neighbours down." &#42
