Austrians oppose EU enlargement

AUSTRIANS oppose the enlargement of the European Union (EU), according to the latest polls.

Hungary is the only potential new entrant from eastern Europe that Austrians would favour.

Franz Fischler, EU agriculture commissioner, and an Austrian, said too much was happening at once.

“At least thats the way the people see it,” he said.
