Aventis seed lines to go

SEED dressing Jockey (fluquinconazole) and a range of other well-known active ingredients will have to be sold off to allow Bayers purchase of Aventis Agroscience to go ahead, according to an Agrow report.

Indeed Aventiss entire seed treatment business, including iprodione, prochloraz and triticonazole, will have to be sold under a European Commission ruling, the report says.

Eight insecticides and two herbicides are among the other active ingredients covered by the arrangements designed to preserve competition.

The insecticides include Aventiss fipronil and ethiprole, a new active yet to be commercialised, plus Bayers cyfluthrin, and oxydemeton-methyl and Aventiss cypermethrin.

Linuron and metamitron are the affected herbicides.

Other actives to be covered by licensing arrangements include cereal herbicide propoxycarbazone (as in Attribut) andslug killer thiodicarb (as in Genesis). Official approval of the deal is still awaited in the US/Canada &#42
