Average tractor power on increase, says AEA
HORSEPOWER is on the rise; average power of agricultural tractors sold in the first quarter of this year was 110.8hp, reports the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA).
This is a 6.8% increase on the same period last year.
Split into horsepower brackets however, there is both good and bad news. Those in the compact tractor business (0-40hp) will not need to be informed that sales have slumped by some 41%. Conversely, according to the AEA, sales of tractors over 121hp have increased by 26% – hence the increase in the average horsepower.
Between these two power brackets there are mixed fortunes as a glance at the table portrays. *
