ONE of the countrys smaller grain traders has called on the bigger buyers to reveal how they structure their grain-pool payments.
Aylsham Grain, which claims it has the top pool prices for the second year running, has urged other traders to be more open.
“As most merchants and co-ops are operating grain pools, they should be more transparent and be prepared to publish results,” said Andrew Dewing, Aylshams general manager.
Aylshams feed wheat pool price, based on a May payment, was £86.50/ tonne. Milling wheat achieved a £25/ tonne premium over feed.
Both prices are after deducting all commission and haulage costs but before deducting HGCA levies and weighbridge charges.
