Ayrshire plans farmers’ market

PLANS are afoot to create a farmers market in Ayrshire, reports The Herald.

John Scott, former hill-farming convener (chairman) of the National Farmers Union of Scotland, is reported to have explored the possibilities with the auctioneers James Craig & Son.

The move would follow the creation of a similar market in Perthshire.

Plans for farmers markets are also under review in the north-east, either in Aberdeen or at Thainstone mart in Inverurie.

There are also moves to establish one at Glasgows Barras market.
