Beacon blazes herald march

BEACONS are to be lit across the country later this month as a curtain raiser to the Countryside March in London on Mar 1.

The beacons, historically used in this country to warn of impending invasion, will be lit from 6-6.30pm on Thur, Feb 26, to relay the message to Westminster that the countryside is not getting a fair hearing.

Anyone wishing to be involved should contact the Countryside Alliance on (01367-850488). The beacon initiative and the London march has the support of all the UK farming unions and landowners organisations.
