Beeches boost

CARLISLE auctioneer David Thomlinson, who runs the Beeches herd of Limousins with his wife, Shiela, stood down from the rostrum during a collective sale of Limousin cattle last week, but it was only to allow fellow auctioneer David Pritchard to sell the crop of heifers from the Beeches herd.

The herd, which has enjoyed a great run of success on the north-west show circuit this summer, achieved the days highest price of 3100gns for Beeches Marble. This Aldwyck Herbie heifer was bought by W Common, Lockerbie.

The 13 Beeches served heifers averaged £1316 and 17 maidens levelled at £1217.

Ringway Jenny, a third calver by Ronick Cosmos suckling a heifer calf by Manitou, made 2600gns to lead the trade for Lockerbie breeder Peter Henshalls Ringway herd.

George and Beryl Haslams Red-stones cattle peaked at 1600gns. &#42
