Beef ban decision still some way off
By FWi staff
A DECISION on whether to lift the British beef export ban seems unlikely until late November at the earliest.
European Union (EU) vets debated the proposed date-based export scheme again this week, but were not pressed to vote.
The vets will debate the scheme again at their next meeting on 20 October.
They may then pass the proposal on to EU farm ministers in time for Farm Council on 23 November.
The UK is still trying to persuade the EU Commission that the date-based scheme should not classify cattle bones as specified risk material.
