Beware tusk danger
DELAYS in marketing cull boars due to foot-and-mouth could lead to them developing tusks, presenting a hazard to stockpeople, according to pig breeding company Cotswold.
In animals where tusks have become a danger, boars should be adequately restrained and tusks trimmed using a hacksaw or embryotomy wire. Stockpeople with no experience of the technique should contact a vet, it advises. *
