Big heat spreads to northern and eastern USA
THE big heat wave across the American deep south has spread into the normally temperate northern and eastern states.
Farmers in the south are being hit hard by the drought conditions – standing hopelessly by as their corn and cotton crops are ravaged.
The state of Nebraska is now offering free counselling in the hope of preventing a repeat of events last year when at least six farmers in South Dakota committed suicide because of lost crops.
