Biocide plastic kills germs on contact

A METHOD of impregnating polymer planking and plastic sheets with a powerful biocide, Envirocare A, has been developed by Envirotech of Skelmersdale.

The biocide has been proved effective against foot-and-mouth, swine fever, anthrax, brucellosis and poultry diseases, says the company. Plastic sheets, in 2.5m x 1.2m (8ft x 4ft) panels of various thickness, can be fitted in existing buildings and transport lorries.

When disease causing bacteria or viruses come into contact with the plastic, the biocide is activated, killing the threat. Sheets have 100% kill rating for 4-5 years, adds the company.

Plastic panels cost £16 each (01695-735777, fax 01695-735630).
