Birds sing out in beet
SUGAR BEET growers are increasingly environmentally friendly, according to a new report from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. It found sugar beet farmers are becoming less dependent on chemicals, successfully reducing usage as part of a focus on integrated pest management, which is paying dividends for rural birdlife, a good indicator of biodiversity. *
