Black forecast for wool prices
THE British Wool Marketing Board said prices this year would be the lowest since 1991.
They would average 62p/kg, compared with last years 87p.
Blackface fleeces, making up about one-third of Scotlands 10 million kg clip, are among the hardest hit, with the price down to 50p/kg.
Ian Hartley, the Boards chief executive, said at a press conference at Ingliston, Edinburgh, the strength of Sterling had devastated the market with almost two-thirds of British wool exported.
