TOP price was 4600gns at the Blonde dAquitaine Breeders Societys show and sale at Carlisle.
Making this was Barningham Magpie, a grandson of the successful sire Whistley Dollar.
He was paraded by Co Durham breeders W F and J C Metcalfe who bred this son of Barningham Ivan out of Banside Golden, a cow they bought at the same venue after she stood champion three years ago. Buyer was M Madrell, Barnard Castle, Co Durham.
Impressing for size was G B Harpers Bradnock Mercury, a son of the French bull Ramo. His 500-day weight of 900kg was 40% above the breed average.
A prize winner at the Royal and Three Counties shows this summer, he claimed the supreme title and made 3700gns to T S Knox, Bedale, North Yorks.
The maiden heifer Hilltop Louise headed the females for Cumbria breeder A J Stott. Buyer was J Chadwick, Isle of Man at 2900gns.
