Blue Mountain cattle win stay of execution
RANGERS granted a stay of execution against a herd of wild cattle living in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, Australia, after campaigners claimed to have spotted descendants of the first cows brought to the country by the First Fleet.
They were due to be shot under a policy aimed at eliminating non-native animals from sensitive areas.
Rangers will investigate whether genetic tests on the cattle are possible to confirm the link. The cull will continue next month if this cannot be done.
