THE British Potato Council has launched a £350,000 advertising campaign aimed at promoting this seasons crop to shoppers.
Advertisements will be displayed in food sections of Sunday newspapers with the slogan: “Potatoes….you cant beat em”.
Seven leading retailers have supported the campaign with special promotions on potatoes, said Helen Wills, BPC head of communications.
“These are linked to money-off vouchers and instant win promotions for baking trays stock cubes, recipes and potato bake mixes,” she said.
Ms Wills believes that with confidence in farming so low the campaign will be a good example of the industry taking positive action.
“Our aim is to keep high quality home-grown potatoes at the top of peoples shopping lists by helping them make an informed choice.”
