BPC unveils five-year plan

THE British Potato Council aims to increase the UKs market share
for home-produced seed from 71% to 80% over the next five years.

It also intends to increase the volume of seed exported by 50% form a five-year average of 44,000 tonnes to 66,000 tonnes. This would ensure that export growth is fed from increased production and not from reducing availability to the domestic market.

It also revealed it had recovered nearly all of the £4.8m due in levy
payments from growers.
