Brecon gets its organic approval

BRECON Market has been granted approval to hold regular sales for organic store and breeding stock.

The next organic sale will take place on Sept 6. This follows its first all-organic sale in June this year, which auctioneer Chris Jones described as slightly disappointing in terms of entries. However, he has been inundated with calls from organic farmers, who are desperate to get hold of feeding cattle and sheep since then, he says.

"We have had a lot of enquiries from organic beef finishing units desperate for good- quality organic store cattle. They are desperately hard to get hold of."

Mr Jones says the market plans to hold an organic store cattle and sheep sale once every three months and hopes that organic producers will support the market with plenty of entries. &#42
