Breeding seminar date
BREEDING for quality will be the theme of seminars and an open day at ADAS Rosemaund, Herefordshire, on May 15.
Researchers from SAC Edinburgh and the Institute of Rural Studies at Aberystwyth will join those based at the unit to present progress reports on the genetic improvement of hill, longwool and terminal sire sheep breeds.
Producers attending the event will receive an update on a major project, begun in 1997, to develop a longwool breed selection index to improve carcass quality of prime lambs bred from halfbred ewes.
Static exhibits will include suckler cow quality, composite sheep breeding, internal parasite resistance, use of CT scanning and scrapie genotyping. *
