Britain’s green fields still at risk
BRITAINS green fields are still at risk despite the governments decision to scale back its plans to build housing on the countryside, claims an editorial in The Times.
The newspaper says that even revised plans will mean building on rural land four times the size of Milton Keynes.
The article also notes that local authorities have already developed, or earmarked, “vast tracks of countryside”.
The Independent and The Guardian also report on damage to the landscape following a report by the Council for the Protection of Rural England.
The report claims vast areas of countryside are being scarred by the quarrying industry.
