BSE inquiry asks for second extension
THE BSE inquiry, chaired by Lord Phillips, has asked for a second extension to its timetable, to allow time for individuals likely to face criticism to respond.
The inquiry, set up in December 1997, was given a year to complete its work. This was extended to 18 months in March 1998.
Yesterday, it said it could not report by June as intended. The inquiry has heard evidence from more than 300 witnesses and built up more than 2,000 files of information.
