By FWi staff
CONVENIENCE store chain Budgens is pulling the plug on its unpopular internet shopping service after spending 2m in 18 months on the venture.
But Chief executive Martin Hyson, denied it was a waste of money, saying if you dont try, you never learn, reports the Daily Express.
Mr Hyson said Budgens was unable to match the internet investment of chains like Tesco, which has spent 70m on its internet service.
Tesco sells 5m-worth of groceries a week over the internet and says it will break even in the next 18 months.
