Bumper GM crop on the Letters pages
THE debate over genetically modified (GM) crops continues to preoccupy readers of The Independent, The Daily Telegraph and The Herald, judging by each papers letters column.
Writers, led by the environmentalist group Greenpeace, take issue with any faintly pro-GM stance, as witnessed by scientists calling for more research last week.
They are dismissive in many letters of scientists claims to objectivity.
The Independent also publishes a selection of views and opinions about the controversy over GM crops culled from the main Sunday newspapers.
