Business rates back for Scots estates?
THE government in Scotland is considering the reintroduction of sporting rates on estates where game and salmon are killed commercially.
Landowners condemned the move, believing it will force them to cut staff.
The Scottish Landowners Federation claimed that restoring sporting rates could cripple many of Scotlands 2500 estates.
Rates, based on kill averages over a year, were abolished on Scottish sporting estates by the Conservative government in 1994.
