Buyers not put off by fewer entries

NUMERICALLY smaller breed entries did not deter buyers.

Beef Shorthorns enjoyed a tremendous trade selling to 6000gns with four other bids over 4000gns.

A strong demand for Castle Douglas breeder James Biggars Chapelton bulls included the top call from James Durno, Aberdeenshire for Chapelton Nimrod.

The eight Belgian Blue bulls averaged £3307 reaching 4200gns for Park Popular paid by W Wright, Stranraer. The bull had been consigned by well known Cheshire cattleman Denis Lomas, who sadly died the week before the sale.

Seven Blonde dAquitaine entries averaged £1920 with long-time breed supporter Fred Murray paying 3300gns for an Ardmore bull from D M C Grant, Aberdeenshire to work on his sucklers in North-umberland. (United Auctions.)
