Call to devolve EU funds

RURAL development funding should be separated from agricultural support and applied on a local or regional basis, according to the Agriculture Mortgage Corporation.

Lord Selbourne, AMC chairman, favours using European Union (EU) schemes with funds directed to as local an agency as possible.

He was speaking at a national farming conference at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.
