CAP reform key to Vienna summit
REFORM of the common agricultural policy (CAP) will be one of the central debates of this weekends summit of European Union leaders in Vienna.
Tony Blair, the Prime Minister, said reform of CAP was his priority, reports the Financial Times.
Britain is under pressure to relinquish whole or part of the budget rebate it secured under Mrs Thatcher.
The Prime Minister reiterated his opposition to this renegotiation. He indicated that if CAP were reformed, there would be no need for a British rebate.
