Carcass award again

BUILDING on the success of last years National Carcass Competition, the Royal Smithfield Club is to re-launch the award.

The aim is to bring together a display of more than 300 of the very best beef, lamb, pork and bacon carcases from throughout the UK. The exhibition will be staged at the National Festival of Meat in Dec at the City of Londons Smithfield Market.

Prizes of £8000 are on offer and the chance to win the Supreme or Reserve Supreme Champion in each species. Last years winners were auctioned on behalf of the producers for a total of £11,850.

Entering the competition is easy. Contenders should simply deliver their entry to the nearest of 12 regional abattoirs which are supporting the competition.
