Cash offered for top cereal ideas

PIONEERING companies with ideas that will increase UK cereal consumption can apply for a record total of £300,000 in next years Home-Grown Cereals Authority Enterprise Awards.

Up to £50,000 is available to each winning idea, with past winners ranging from pastel-coloured eggs to pig diet research and biodegradable packaging.

Since the scheme began six years ago, an extra 390,000t of cereals has been used. Chief executive Paul Biscoe says: "The Enterprise Awards have a solid reputation for encouraging innovation and stimulating progress. They are good news for business and agriculture."
