Cattle breeding takes to the Net

AN EVER-increasing part of the £30 million annual trade in bull semen is moving to the internet, reports the Financial Times.

The newspaper looks at the trade among cattle breeders online and finds a thriving micro-market has developed on the internet.

The electronic presentation of Holstein UK & Ireland, which claims to represent about a third of dairy farmers, is reviewed in detail.

Its site has a database of 2000 bulls and gets up to 1500 hits a day.
